Volunteering

As in so many small villages and towns throughout the UK, volunteers are the backbone of community life in Churt. Our parish councillors, school governors, churchwardens, the pastoral care team, trustees, chairpersons, committee members, leaders and helpers in organisations, clubs and societies throughout so many aspects of village life - all are volunteers who generously give their time and talent for the benefit of our community.

But people change jobs or their interests, move on or simply grow older - so most of our village organisations are continuously on the lookout for new volunteers to join their ranks. You will see adverts or calls for volunteers frequently in the parish magazine, on this website or on social media. Please consider if you can give a little of your time as a volunteer to help out when you see a call for help to which you could contribute. And if you don't see a call for help but have a passion for something and want to contribute to that aspect of community life, then please just approach the relevant organisation and ask if they could do with some extra help. They will be pleased to hear from you.

Churt Parish Council organises an annual litterpick, usually in the Autumn and we would love to see you there. You will see notices about it each year on this website and on our Facebook page . We are also grateful to all the individuals who regularly pick up other people's litter when they are out and about. Another ever open volunteering option is keeping the holly seedlings and bracken under control in the Parish Council managed Wicket Wood and we are grateful to our Cubs and Scouts for all that they do volunteering in Wicket Wood.

The photo gallery features some of our regular outdoor volunteering activities.
