Village Hall
The largest, most comprehensively equipped and flexible community amenity in Churt is its Village Hall, which was given to the village by Frank Mason in 1928. The Hall, which can be hired at very competitive rates, can accommodate up to 120 people and is an ideal venue for a range of activities including children’s parties, wedding receptions, concerts, funeral wakes, community organisation events/meetings and much more. It has a fully equipped industrial kitchen, stage for concerts, and superb state of the art lighting system. And, we are currently planning to replace the audio- visual (AV) system with a high tech solution integrated with the internet and a permanently installed projector and screen to enhance the user experience and extend the use of the Hall.
Conveniently located on the A287 in the centre of the village, the hall is close to a range of local amenities.
Registered as a charity, the Hall is run by a management committee of local resident volunteers and is the hub for many local activities. It is currently used by many local organisations including Churt Amateur Dramatic Society (CADS), Churt Horticultural and Produce Society (CHAPS) and the local Women's Institute. They, and others, host dinners, flower shows, pantomimes, plays, concerts, dancing and fitness classes, quiz nights, birthday parties and much more. It is also the home of the Dottie Tots nursery.
The Hall is a valued asset to the local community and relies on income from bookings and events to maintain, upgrade and ensure its sustainability. Bookings can be made by linking to the Village Hall website.
But, if you would like further information on the use of the Hall please contact Mick Cook Chair of the Management Committee or Peter Bolt at hallbookings@churtvillagehall.org.uk, who manages bookings for the hall.
