Crime and Disorder
There is a perception that crime is on the increase locally, particularly vehicle crime, fraud on the telephone and online, scams and doorstep crime. The Surrey Police website has a wealth of information at including a Crime Map at where you can check on reported crime levels in our area as shown in the image below for July 2024.
For very helpful information and tips, sign up to In the Know to find out what is happening in our area - witness appeals, crime updates, crime prevention advice and news. Emails sent out are specific to your interests and local area, from reliable sources; and you’re in control of how often you are contacted and who you receive information from. The In the Know team are also running cyber-crime protection webinars.
Surrey Police report many incidents of fraudsters targeting Surrey residents to defraud them. To prevent this and support vulnerable victims of fraud or scams there is a monthly fraud newsletter published. They encourage us all to follow their tips, encouraging family, friends and colleagues to do so too to reduce the risk of becoming a victim.
Neighbourhood policing within Surrey Police is delivered by Safer Neighbourhood Teams in each of the 11 districts and boroughs of the County. Each neighbourhood within the districts and boroughs is served by a dedicated team of officers and staff. Neighbourhood Teams provide community engagement, targeted foot patrols and collaborative problem solving to tackle the issues that cause the greatest harm in our communities. Teams are made of sergeants, police officers and PCSOs, led by the Borough Commander, with further support provided by other team members - with specialisms in youth engagement, licensing and crime prevention.
Our local neighbourhood specialist police officer was recently introduced to us and our police community support officer attended a parish council meeting to get a better understanding of our local issues and brief us on the work of Surrey Police in protecting us from crime. We will continue to keep in touch with our local team on any parish crimes or crime concerns.
