The Village Community
Churt is a village of many talents, many clubs and societies and a community that cares about each other and about the environment. St John’s Church and St John’s Infant School have stood in the centre of Churt for more than 150 years, whilst the Recreation Ground and the Village Hall have been focal points of village social life since 1921 and 1928 respectively.
Churt’s community spirit came through loud and clear during the Covid pandemic in 2020/2021, with many residents volunteering to help others as part of the Churt Covid Support Group and the core team were recognised by Jeremy Hunt’s Surrey Heroes initiative. When we emerged from the pandemic, the village celebrated together in a Party In the Park on Churt’s Recreation Ground in September 2021.
As well as regular individual meetings of Churt’s many sports clubs and village societies, residents enjoy coming together for annual events like the Village Fete, the Village Hall quiz, the CHAPS summer party, the Parish Council’s Christmas Cheer, concerts and BBQs organised by the Friends of St John’s Church and much more.
