Churt Horticultural and Produce Society (CHAPS)

Churt Horticultural and Produce Society (CHAPS) recently celebrated its 75th anniversary providing Churt village interest and activities for anyone who enjoys gardening and growing flowers and vegetables. Please visit our website.

The Society’s roots can be traced back to the 1940’s when many Churt residents grew their own vegetables for food after the austerity of WWII. Today, the 120+ members are a mix of talented and experienced gardeners and those who are new to gardening or just do it for fun.

The Society hosts six talks each year from guest speakers/experienced horticulturalists (including occasional celebrity presenters) either at the Village Hall or at Quinnettes in Churt and holds Spring and Autumn flower and produce shows at the Village Hall. We also organise occasional trips out to gardens of interest and hold a Summer Garden Party for members at Quinnettes.

If you have experience you wish to share, have a desire to learn more about gardening and growing or simply want to attend the social functions, we’d be delighted for you to join the CHAPS membership. The organisation is managed by an active team of volunteers and we are always looking for enthusiastic members to our committee to provide fresh ideas and ensure CHAPS meets the needs of its members and the community. If interested, please contact CHAPS secretary Mandy Martin CHAPS Secretary chaps.secretary@gmail.com

Membership costs just £10 a year and for that you are able to take part in all of the society’s shows, talks, visits and the Summer Party. And you will also be eligible to obtain discounts at several local gardening and retail outlets.

We are proud to be sponsored by Avalon Garden Centre; an independent retailer based

on Tilford Road, in Churt; postcode GU10 2LL.
